kathmandu- A delegation from the Nepal Education Counselling Services Association (NECSA) held a significant meeting with Nepali Ambassador to South Korea, Shiva Maya Tumbahamphe, focusing on ethical counselling practices and stronger educational collaboration between Nepal and South Korea.

During the meeting, Ambassador Tumbahamphe stressed the need for education consultancies to operate with transparency and integrity. She urged counsellors to ensure that students compulsorily fill out the form embassy has provided them, refrain from sending students to universities that conduct only online classes and adopt ethical measures while handling university transfers and service fees. She also advised producing awareness videos to guide students on issues such as visa changes, application processes and honesty.

NECSA President Santosh Khanal briefed the Ambassador on the upcoming First Korean Education Fair, scheduled for September 13. He highlighted the difficulties faced by Nepali students due to delayed responses from the embassy to emails sent by universities, and urged the Ambassador to ensure timely replies through official government channels rather than personal emails. He also outlined NECSA’s plans to train its members, organize study visits and produce documentaries aimed at raising awareness.

Similarly, NECSA Treasurer Sandeep Tiwari highlighted the struggles faced by Nepali students in South Korea, noting that success requires hard work, patience and perseverance. He emphasized that as more individuals are entering the counselling business, professionalism and adherence to ethical standards have become essential.

The meeting is expected to contribute to promoting ethical counselling practices, raising awareness among students and strengthening Nepal–Korea educational cooperation.
