kathmandu- Poet Bhoj Kumar Dhamala, who is on a month-long visit to Australia, recited poems from his English poetry collection ‘The Selfish City’ in Parramata, Australia yesterday. Dhamala delivered his poetry at the Westwords Center for Creative Writing, Hunter Street, Parramata, at the invitation of Auburn Poets and Writers.

Poet Dhamala said that he is very happy to mix Nepali literature with international ones. He informed that although ‘The Selfish City’ is a work with the flavor of Nepali soil, it represents the common story, natural love, hate, and resentment that people experience in the world.

Australian poets Davina Bedford, Matthew De Silva, Luke Welland, Mark Marusik and Nita Handa also recited their contemporary poetry at the ceremony. Program moderator poet Danny Garder stressed that there should be no disagreement that Dhamala’s ‘The Selfish City’ should be accepted as a common story.
