Among the new generation of Nepali film editors, one name is quietly but steadily emerging as a promising force—Nahakul Khadka.
In a relatively short period, Khadka has carved out a distinct identity in Nepal’s film industry through his dedication, creativity and ability to bring stories to life from behind the editing desk. While many know the faces on screen, industry insiders are increasingly taking notice of the young editor whose work is becoming synonymous with compelling storytelling.
Nahakul’s portfolio reflects both versatility and social consciousness. He has edited documentary short films such as Ritto Gaun, Lapatta Santan, Naami: The Crisis Queen, Maun and Nisabda, projects that address important social issues and demonstrate his ability to handle sensitive narratives with depth and precision.
His contribution to mainstream Nepali cinema is equally noteworthy. Khadka has worked on films including Kosedhunga, Hari Bahadur Ko Jutta, Ke Ghar Ke Dera 2, Soul of Commando, Maya Pirim, TANDAVAM and Encounter. His editing in Kosedhunga earned him the Best Editor Award at the Rural Film Festival, a recognition that further cemented his growing reputation in the industry.
Beyond feature films, Khadka has established himself as a versatile editor by working on more than 50 music videos and over 10 television commercials, showcasing an ability to adapt his craft across different visual formats.
